[moved] Basingstoke Exchange Capacity Problem
Customers on the Basingstoke exchange have been experiencing problems recently - packet loss, and slow connections. This has (eventually) been tracked down to a back haul capacity problem from the exchange to BTs core network. BT are scheduled to upgrade this on Tuesday (4th August).

We are seeing similar issues in Baywsater, but this is yet to be confirmed.
We are, of course, questioning BTs capacity management processes as they should not get full links.
BAYSWATER AND UPTON PARK have both been upgraded this morning.
BT keep thinking they have found this and still have not. It has been escalated several times but we are not letting the matter drop.
BT are testing a theory on this on a couple of lines to see if that isolates the problem. We will know after tonight if that is the case.
Basingstoke lines were much improved last night, but the lines BT were testing were completely clear of packet loss. We are waiting for confirmation from BT of what they plan to do next to ensure all lines are sorted.
BT have made changes that may have fixed the issue for all lines on Basingstoke. We'll be able to tell for sure later tonight.
It is a lot better but not quite perfect. We are still working with BT on this.
It seems they have identified that this may effect 160 links to various exchanges that are affected to some extent and are expecting to upgrade links accordingly. We'll get more details soon on this. It sounds like we have uncovered an issue with scaling up of 21CN and BT have managed to track it down, which is good.
I think finally we are making some progress on 21CN issues.
OK, I take it back. That was just a case of a few good days. Last night was again showing levels of 10% packet loss some of the time on all Basingstoke lines.
We know they have some clues on this as three lines on which settings were changed were perfect. But the overall change is not working.
We have advised BT of this.
